Google announced on the official blog the end of the service “goo.gl”.

Google announced this new on March 30th, 2018, and the company said that the service “goo.gl” will be unavailable for the anonymous users on April 13th, 2018 and the identified users won’t be able to create links through this console as of March 30th, 2019.

Google launched this service in 2009, but now the company will replace this popular service by Firebase Dynamic Links.

Don’t worry the links created in the “goo.gl” console will be alive forever and won’t be deleted and they will not be migrated to Firebase Console, and you will be able to get your links stats from “goo.gl” console.

The projects have accessed URL Shortener APIs after March 30th, 2018 won’t be able to create new short links, only the projects that have accessed before March 30th, 2018 can create new short links, and for the new developers who want to make short links they must use the Firebase Dynamic Links APIs (FDL APIs).

If you are calling the URL Shortener APIs to shorten your links you must change it before March 30th, 2018 because Google will shut down this service on this date.
